Spring is Coming...

I thought winter would never end. And the funny thing is, I didn't even expect it to end. Surviving my first Chicago winter was easier than I expected. I guess since winter was only my second real season here, there was no telling how long it would last. I expected it to go on forever. That said (in so many words), I have never been happier to see spring. I can see the grass for the first time in months. There are little chutes of tulip bulb poking up through the ground. I can actually feel the sun's warmth on my face. The trees are budding. Too bad it's supposed to snow at the end of the week. Hopefully it won't be anything too serious.

I think that picture was taken in May of 2006, and it features three things I find incredibly beautiful: blue sky, green grass, and puffy white clouds. I took this on the way to Michigan somewhere on the interstate between Virginia and Maryland. In that moment life was beautiful.

I have the mind of an 80 year-old woman.
